Description
Our client, a premier intellectual property law firm, is seeking a mid-level (3-5 year) Patent Litigation Associate to join its Chemical Practice Group in Atlanta, Reston, or Washington, D.C. The Associate will handle sophisticated patent litigation matters involving chemical and life sciences technologies, with meaningful responsibility for discovery, substantive motion practice, depositions, witness preparation, case strategy, and trial support. Candidates should bring a strong technical background in chemistry, organic chemistry, small molecules, or a related discipline.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Handle sophisticated IP litigation in chemistry/life science matters; manage fact and expert discovery; draft and argue substantive motions; take and defend depositions; prepare witnesses; develop case strategy; and support trial teams throughout complex IP disputes
- Assume meaningful client and case-management responsibilities; analyze complex technical and legal issues involving chemical and life sciences technologies; collaborate closely with attorneys, experts, clients, and trial teams
REQUIREMENTS:

- 3–5 years exp. with substantial IP litigation experience, including fact and expert discovery, substantive motion practice, depositions, witness preparation, case strategy, and trial support
- TECHNICAL BACKGROUND REQUIRED: Chemistry, organic chemistry, small molecules, or a related discipline; specific experience litigating matters involving small molecules, polymers, or life sciences technologies is preferred
- Exceptional written and oral advocacy, analytical, communication, and client-management skills; ability to manage significant responsibilities while working effectively in a collaborative team environment
- JD from a nationally recognized and accredited law school with excellent academic credentials
- PREFERRED: A related advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.)
- Georgia licensed or prepared to become licensed in the jurisdiction of the hiring office; USPTO license is a plus but not required
