IP - PATENT PREPARATION & PROSECUTION | MID-LEVEL ASSOCIATE (3-5 YRS): Our client, a leading Southeastern law firm, is seeking an Intellectual Property Associate with 3-5 years of patent prosecution experience to join its growing IP practice. The associate will focus primarily on patent preparation and prosecution while also engaging in a broad spectrum of intellectual property matters. This role offers the opportunity to work with sophisticated technologies and collaborate with a team that supports clients across multiple industries, including telecommunications, integrated circuits, and advanced engineering sectors.
The Patent Associate will prepare and prosecute patent applications, analyze complex technical disclosures, assist with portfolio strategy, and manage substantive communication with inventors, engineers, and IP stakeholders. The role requires excellent technical acumen, strong drafting skills, and the ability to conduct in-depth investigations and analysis of patent-related matters. The attorney will play a key role in advising clients, supporting the firm’s expanding patent practice, and contributing to a collaborative, growth-oriented team culture.
REQUIRED: A JD from an accredited law school; an undergraduate degree in science or engineering (electrical engineering strongly preferred); 3-5 years of patent preparation and prosecution experience; registration to practice before the USPTO; active membership in the applicable state bar; strong writing, analytical, and investigative skills; and the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively with diverse teams of inventors and professionals.
