ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING & COMPUTER SCIENCE PATENT PROSECUTION |PATENT AGENT OR ASSOCIATE (3+ YRS): Our client, an AmLaw 100 firm, is seeking a Patent Agent or Associate to join its Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Patent Prosecution Practice Group.Â
This opportunity offers the ability to work on sophisticated patent prosecution matters involving cutting-edge electrical engineering and software technologies. The role focuses on patent preparation and prosecution for a diverse client base, particularly in advanced computing and AI-driven technologies, including graphics processing units, tensor processing units, accelerators, neural engines, and robotics circuitry and actuators.
The Patent Agent or Associate will oversee patent matters from invention disclosure through issuance, including drafting and filing patent applications, conducting inventor interviews, developing prosecution strategies, responding to USPTO Office Actions, and managing patent portfolios. The role requires strong technical comprehension, precise legal drafting, and the ability to manage multiple matters while maintaining excellent client service and meeting filing deadlines.
REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must possess a high level of academic achievement, strong law firm, engineering, or industry experience, and excellent writing and communication skills. Applicants should have a minimum of three years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience and hold an undergraduate or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics. Experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications involving AI hardware, advanced processors, semiconductor design, robotics, machine learning systems, or related computer architecture is strongly valued. Admission to practice before the USPTO is required for all candidates. Patent Agent candidates must have active USPTO registration. Associate candidates must also hold a J.D. and active bar admission in the jurisdiction where they intend to practice.
