INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY & TECHNOLOGY | PATENT AGENT (5+ YRS): Our client, a Global firm, is seeking a Patent Agent to join its Intellectual Property & Technology (IP&T) practice.
The Patent Agent will work closely with partners, associates, and clients to support the development and protection of innovative technologies. Responsibilities include harvesting inventions directly from clients, advising on invention disclosures and patent strategies, drafting and prosecuting U.S. patent applications, coordinating the prosecution of foreign patent applications, and conducting evaluations of emerging technologies. The role also involves assisting with opinion work, client counseling, supporting intellectual property litigation efforts, and providing technical support across the firm’s broader IP practice. Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong technical writing ability, analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly to both legal and technical audiences.
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related technical field (advanced degree preferred); registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO); at least 5 years of experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications as a patent agent in a law firm or in-house environment; strong analytical and technical writing skills; and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary intellectual property practice. Experience with software-related patents is a plus.
