INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY - BIOINFORMATICS | MID-LEVEL PATENT AGENT OR PATENT ATTORNEY (3+ YRS): Our client, an AmLaw100 firm, is seeking a mid-level Patent Agent or Patent Attorney to join its Chemistry & Life Sciences Patent Prosecution Practice.

This opportunity is ideal for a patent professional with a strong technical background in bioinformatics, computational biology, artificial intelligence, or a closely related discipline. The role offers the opportunity to work with innovative clients at the intersection of life sciences and software technologies, preparing and prosecuting patent applications involving cutting-edge computational and biotechnology innovations.

The Patent Agent or Patent Attorney will prepare, file, and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications related to bioinformatics, computational biology, artificial intelligence, and other emerging life sciences technologies. Responsibilities include drafting patent applications, responding to Office Actions, developing patent strategies, collaborating with inventors and research teams, corresponding with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and managing domestic and international patent portfolios. The successful candidate will work with sophisticated clients developing novel technologies that integrate biological sciences with advanced computational methods.

REQUIREMENTS: Candidates should possess strong educational and/or industry experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related technical field. An advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) is strongly preferred, along with a minimum of three years of patent prosecution experience. Candidates should demonstrate exceptional technical writing, analytical, and communication skills, with experience spanning both software and biological sciences highly preferred. Registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office is required for all candidates. Patent Attorney applicants must also hold a J.D., be admitted (or eligible for admission) to the bar in the jurisdiction corresponding to their primary office location, and possess strong academic credentials.
