INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY- CHEMISTRY/ ORGANIC CHEMISTRY, SMALL MOLECULES| PATENT AGENT: Our client, an AmLaw200 firm, is seeking a Patent Agent with a background in chemistry, particularly organic chemistry or small molecules, to join its Atlanta office. This is an opportunity to work within a premier intellectual property practice, supporting innovative clients across cutting-edge technologies while contributing to a collaborative and technically sophisticated team.
The Patent Agent will be responsible for drafting and prosecuting patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Core responsibilities include evaluating underlying technologies and inventions, preparing and filing patent applications, conducting legal and technical analysis, and providing strategic input on patentability and prosecution. The role also involves opinion writing, client counseling, supporting litigation matters, and providing technical assistance across various intellectual property projects. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical acumen, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly and effectively.
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field (advanced degree preferred); USPTO registration required; prior experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications; strong analytical, writing, and communication skills; and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Prior law firm experience is strongly preferred.
