Description
Our client, a global AmLaw 100 firm, is seeking an experienced Of Counsel to join its Products Liability Litigation Group with a particular focus on pharmaceutical and medical device litigation and Daubert / Rule 702 motions practice. The position requires an Science Background (MD, MPH, PharmD, Epidemiology) and exceptional legal writing skills to handle sophisticated product liability matters, work closely with expert witnesses, develop case strategy, and supervise associates. This position is open to any of the firm’s U.S. offices.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Draft and review sophisticated briefs and motions, with a particular emphasis on Daubert issues and Rule 702 of the Federal Rules of Evidence; draft and review discovery responses, memoranda, and other substantive litigation documents; assist with fact development, depositions, discovery, and overall litigation strategy
- Work closely with expert witnesses in complex pharmaceutical, medical device, and product liability matters; analyze complex scientific and legal issues and translate them into clear and persuasive written advocacy
- Communicate directly with clients and provide strategic litigation advice and case updates
- Supervise and mentor associates and coordinate substantive work across litigation teams
REQUIREMENTS:
- 8+ years exp. handling sophisticated litigation matters, preferably gained while practicing at an AmLaw 100 firm
- A Science background is required, including an MD, MPH, PharmD, Epidemiology, or similar background
- Meaningful experience with products liability litigation
- Extensive experience drafting complex briefs, specifically involving Daubert challenges and Rule 702
- PREFERRED: Experience involving the pharmaceutical and medical device industries is a plus
- Exceptional legal writing, research, analytical, problem-solving, and persuasive advocacy skills
- Strong business judgment, organizational, communication, management, and client-service skills; ability to work both independently and collaboratively while managing sophisticated matters in a fast-paced environment
- JD from a nationally recognized and accredited law school with excellent academic credentials
- Must be bar licensed or prepared to become licensed in the jurisdiction of the hiring office
