Description

Our client, a respected national law firm, is seeking a Trusts & Estates Associate to join its Atlanta office. The Associate will advise high and ultra-high net worth individuals and businesses on sophisticated estate, tax, and business succession planning matters. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex wealth planning strategies involving estate and gift tax planning, generation-skipping transfer tax planning, trusts, and business succession matters.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Draft wills and sophisticated estate planning documents, including GRATs, intentionally defective grantor trusts, charitable trusts, and similar instruments; counsel clients on estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning
  • Assist with sophisticated planning techniques, including installment sales to grantor trusts with formula valuation
  • Draft and review business succession planning documents for individuals, families, and closely held businesses
  • Assist with estate and gift tax return preparation and review as applicable
  • Work independently and collaboratively while managing multiple sophisticated trusts, estates, and tax planning matters

REQUIREMENTS:

    • 1-3 years exp. handling trusts & estates and/or tax planning matters
    • Experience drafting wills and complex estate planning documents, including GRATs, business succession planning documents, intentionally defective grantor trusts, charitable trusts, and similar documents; advising on estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning
    • STRONGLY PREFERRED: Prior experience with estate and gift tax return preparation and review; familiarity with the income taxation of individuals, trusts, estates, corporations, and partnerships
    • Strong legal writing, analytical, organizational, and project management skills; ability to manage multiple matters independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • JD from a nationally recognized and accredited law school with excellent academic credentials
  • Georgia bar licensed
