ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING & COMPUTER SCIENCE |PATENT AGENT (2+ YRS): Our client, an AmLaw 100 firm, is seeking a Patent Agent to join its Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Patent Prosecution Practice Group. This opportunity offers the ability to work on cutting-edge technologies for innovative clients while collaborating with a nationally recognized intellectual property team across multiple offices, with a strong preference for Atlanta and several other key markets.
The Patent Agent will support sophisticated patent portfolio development and prosecution matters involving advanced electrical engineering and software-related technologies. Responsibilities include drafting and prosecuting U.S. patent applications, conducting invention disclosure reviews, developing patent strategy, preparing responses to USPTO office actions, assisting with portfolio management, and counseling clients on intellectual property protection strategies. The role provides significant exposure to emerging technologies and direct interaction with inventors, engineers, and business stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have meaningful experience in patent preparation and prosecution involving electrical engineering, computer science, or software technologies. Preferred technical experience includes machine learning, artificial intelligence, neural networks, telecommunications technologies such as 5G and 6G, autonomous driving systems, RF circuitry, and hardware or communications security, including encryption and decryption technologies.

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related technical discipline; 2+ years of patent preparation and prosecution experience; admission to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO); strong academic credentials; and exceptional writing, analytical, and communication skills. Experience prosecuting patents involving AI/machine learning, telecommunications (5G/6G), autonomous driving, RF circuitry, and hardware or communications security technologies is preferred.
