INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY & TECHNOLOGY | PATENT AGENT (5+ YRS): Our client, a global firm, is seeking an experienced Patent Agent to join its Intellectual Property & Technology (IP&T) practice. This opportunity offers the ability to work on cutting-edge technologies for sophisticated clients across multiple industries while collaborating with a nationally recognized and globally integrated intellectual property team.
The Patent Agent will work closely with partners, counsel, associates, and fellow patent agents on a broad range of patent prosecution and intellectual property strategy matters. Responsibilities include harvesting inventions directly from clients, evaluating emerging and complex technologies, advising clients on invention disclosures and patent strategy, drafting and prosecuting U.S. patent applications, managing foreign patent prosecution, contributing to patent opinion work, providing strategic client counseling, supporting litigation matters, and offering technical support across the broader IP practice.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications involving electrical engineering, computer science, software, or related technologies. Candidates should be highly adaptable and comfortable working across diverse technical subject matter while delivering strategic, business-focused intellectual property guidance to clients.
This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned patent professional seeking sophisticated prosecution work, direct client interaction, and exposure to multidisciplinary matters involving litigation, licensing, corporate, venture capital, international trade, and other adjacent practice areas within the world’s largest law firm.
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (advanced degree preferred); registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office; minimum of 5 years of patent agent experience in a law firm or in-house setting; substantial experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications; exceptional technical writing, analytical, and communication skills; and the ability to manage sophisticated intellectual property matters independently. Advanced technical degree; software patent experience; experience with patent opinions, litigation support, and strategic portfolio counseling is preferred.Â
