INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY - CHEMISTRY | PATENT AGENT (3+ YRS): Our client, an AmLaw 100 firm, is seeking an experienced USPTO-registered Patent Agent to join its Chemistry & Life Sciences Team. This opportunity offers the ability to work with innovative pharmaceutical, chemical, biotechnology, and life sciences companies on sophisticated patent prosecution and intellectual property matters.
The Patent Agent will prepare, draft, and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications involving chemistry, pharmaceutical, and small molecule technologies. Responsibilities include advising clients on patent strategy, conducting patent portfolio development, preparing patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses, drafting responses to USPTO Office Actions, and providing intellectual property counseling related to complex scientific innovations. The role also includes assisting with opinion work and supporting patent office litigation matters, including Inter Partes Review (IPR) and Post Grant Review (PGR) proceedings.
This position offers substantial client interaction and the opportunity to work on cutting-edge scientific technologies while collaborating closely with attorneys and inventors across a nationally recognized intellectual property practice.
REQUIRED: Active USPTO Registration Number; 3+ years of patent prosecution experience; degree or advanced degree in Chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline; significant experience prosecuting chemistry, pharmaceutical, and/or small molecule patent applications; strong technical, analytical, and written communication skills; and the ability to manage sophisticated intellectual property matters independently. Law firm experience is preferred. Technical writing proficiency is a plus.
